Clarence Matthews


THE FUNERAL service has taken place at Treswithian Downs Crematorium, Camborne, for Mr Clarence James Matthews, of Tuckingmill, who has died at home at the age of 66. The service was conducted by Pastor Mike Ely
  Clarence was born at Wheal Bush, St Day, and attended Halwin School, at Four Lanes, followed by Tolgus School. On leaving school he served an apprenticeship with South Crofty Mine for five years and after that he drove the main hoist for a few years. He then went to work underground.
  Clarence met his wife Maggie in 1996. He enjoyed rugby and tug-of-war, working on cars and also country and western dancing. He liked to walk the dogs.
  Donations were for Cornwall Hospice Care, St Julia's, Hayle, and Cornwall Macmillan Cancer Support Cornwall and total 595.
  The chosen bearers were: Phil, Taffy, Peter, Emmy, Geof and Maurice.
Family mourners were: Maggie, wife; Alan, Keith and Ian, sons; Vicky, daughter; Sophie, Christopher, Sam, Leaya, Katie and Skye, grandchildren; Leslie and Frances, Kenny and Carol, brothers and sisters-in-law; Mark and Fran, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Russell, Rex and Ben, uncles; Pat, aunty; Cheryl, niece, and her husband Bryan; also all his cousins.
